The first shows put on sale for the North American leg of Beyonce’s Mrs. Carter Show world arena tour sold out quickly yesterday, with shows added in several markets. Sales in Europe, where the tour begins April 15 at Kombank Arena in Belgrade, are also reportedly very strong.
The North American leg, which begins June 28 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, is promoted by the Global Touring division of Live Nation Entertainment, overseen by LNGT chairman Arthur Fogel, who called the on sales “massive.”
Going up yesterday were Las Vegas (June 29), San Jose (July 2) Dallas (July 6), Ft. Lauderdale (July 9), Miami (July 10), Houston (July 15), Chicago (July 17), Detroit (July 20), Toronto (July 21), Montreal (July 22), Boston (July 23), Washington, D.C. (July 29), and Brooklyn (Aug. 3), which all sold out. Second plays in D.C., and Brooklyn (”blink of an eye hot,” according to Fogel), will be added. The remaining dates will go on sale next week, and there will be a total of 25 shows on this continent. Beyonce will also play the Essence Festival in New Orleans July 7.
Overseas, Beyonce will work with promoters on a market-by-market basis, booked by Scott Mantel at ICM. Mrs. Carter will play 24 dates in Europe, including four nights at London’s O2 Arena and doubles in Paris and Dublin, before wrapping in Stockholm May 29.
Beyonce last toured in 2009-2010 with her I Am...” world tour, which grossed $85.6 million and drew nearly 1 million people to 73 shows reported to Billboard Boxscore.
