Anschutz Entertainment Group (AEG) has nailed down the contract with the NHL's New Jersey Devils to manage the new Prudential Center in Newark.

Additionally, AEG's national concert touring division, AEG Live, will book concerts and other special events for the 19,500-seat arena, which will also be the home of the National Hockey League's New Jersey Devils.

The $375 million dollar Prudential Center, slated to open in October 2007, will be the first major sports and entertainment venue to open in the nation's top media market in over 25 years.

With the addition of the Prudential Center, AEG now owns, operates or is developing major venues in the world's top entertainment markets including Staples Center in Los Angeles, the O2 in London (due to open June, 2007) and the O2 World in Berlin (opening 2008).

The deal gives AEG a strong presence in the market. AEG co-owns and operates Red Bull Park, currently under construction in Harrison, New Jersey. This 25,000 capacity outdoor venue will be home to Major League Soccer's New York Red Bulls. The company also owns and operates the Nokia Theatre Times Square in New York.

AEG Live is currently promoting tours by Justin Timberlake, Christina Aguilera, Cheetah Girls and Rod Stewart, as well as the American Idol, Dancing with the Stars and High School Musical arena treks. In the past, AEG Live has promoted tours by Bon Jovi, Usher, Paul McCartney, Prince, Kenny Chesney and Nickelback.
