The parent company for the Portland Trail Blazers has picked a new company to manage the Rose Quarter, where the team plays.

Vulcan Inc. announced Monday (June 9) that the Los Angeles-based company Anschutz Entertainment Group, a subsidiary of Anschutz Corp., will replace Global Spectrum, a unit of Comcast Corp.

The union links two of the richest men in sports: Blazers' owner Paul Allen and Philip Anschutz. Allen ranks 41st and Anschutz 125th on Forbes' list of world billionaires.

AEG owns a stake in the Staples Center in Los Angeles, where it is developing a $2.5 billion sports, residential and entertainment district. Trail Blazers executives say that is a model it wants to use to redevelop the Rose Quarter area.
