Cablevision CEO and Madison Square Garden chairman Jim Dolan commented during a Goldman Sachs conference in New York that MSG Entertainment's contract with Ticketmaster has expired and that the company would consider using Live Nation for future ticketing operations.

When asked today (Sept. 18) if MSGE would consider Live Nation for future ticketing, Dolan replied, "It certainly looks like they're going to be a provider, so yes." MSGE operates such New York venues as Madison Square Garden, Beacon Theater, Radio City Music Hall and the WaMu Theatre.

In the hours following Dolan's comments, Cablevision released a "clarification" press statement, which reads, "Madison Square Garden has enjoyed a long and mutually beneficial relationship with Ticketmaster. We have been in conversations and expect to extend that relationship and we have no current plans to do anything otherwise."

Dolan's comments follow last week's announcement that Live Nation has cut an important ticketing deal with Philadelphia-based facility operator SMG for venues across North America. Live Nation Ticketing is scheduled to launch as a full service, in-house ticketing company in January 2009.
