American Idol Tour Shifts To Live Nation

After a seven year stint with AEG Live, the American Idol Live tour will be promoted by Live Nation, beginning July 1 at the Palace of Auburn Hills, Mich. This summer's tour will play Live Nation amphitheaters for the first time, along with some arenas and other venues.
The 49-date tour will feature top 10 contestants Didi Benami, Crystal Bowersox, Lee DeWyze, Andrew Garcia, Casey James, Aaron Kelly, Michael Lynche, Siobhan Magnus, Katie Stevens, and Tim Urban. On-sales begin May 14. Some of the amphitheater shows will offer a four-pack ticket package at $75.
Since 2002, American Idols Live! has grossed more than $170 million and sold more than 3.3 million tickets to 381 shows reported to Billboard Boxscore. The biggest year was 2006, when the gross topped $35 million and attendance was nearly 650,000. The debut year of the tour was promoted by Metropolitan Entertainment, along with regional promoters.
