Dave Kirby, veteran agent and chairman/founder of the Kirby Organization
(TKO), passed away at his home in Manhattan Beach, Calif., Sept. 18 after a two year battle with prostate cancer. He was 56.

To insure the company would move forward in Kirby's absence, TKO was restructured more than a year ago in the wake of Kirby’s illness with the following structure: Mike Monterulo, CEO; Andrew Goodfriend, president; Dan DeVita, senior VP; Rika O’Connor-Gargano, COO, and Michael Ullman, CFO. The agency will continue to operate out of New York and Los Angeles.

Kirby left the Agency Group and formed TKO in 2005, which became one of the top independent agencies in the business, particularly in the world of hard rock, with such clients as Buckcherry, Papa Roach, Motorhead, Anthrax, Hellyeah, Mudvayne, the Cult, the Doors’ Ray Manzarek and Robbie Kreiger, and Hank III. A championship level competitive sailor, Kirby was notably outspoken on industry issues, and was a successful advocate of touring as a primary artist development tool.

Kirby is survived by his wife Christine and sons David and Alex. In lieu of
flowers, it is requested that donations be made to the Prostate Cancer
Foundation in Dave Kirby’s name. A memorial is planned for late October.
