Next month, the Foo Fighters will be playing songs from "Wasting Light," the new album they recorded in Dave Grohl's garage, in the garages of eight lucky fans in eight North American cities as part of a sponsorship with BlackBerry.
The Foo Fighters have teamed with BlackBerry and local radio stations to give eight lucky fans the opportunity to host a Foo Fighters live performance in his or her actual garage. Fans who want a shot at turning their garage into a concert venue can either enter the contest directly by explaining in 25 words or less why they (and 50 of their friends) deserve to win and then sending in a picture of their garage. Listeners of local radio stations will also have a chance to attend the garage show in their town. BlackBerry is also sponsoring a Concert Sweepstakes, in which winners will receive tickets to see the band in concert, an autographed copy of Wasting Light and more. Foo Fighters new record Wasting Light, produced by Butch Vig and mixed by Alan Moulder, is set for an April 12 release on Roswell/RCA, and was recorded entirely on analog tape in the garage of Dave Grohl's home in California's San Fernando Valley.
