Dates for the second of four Dave Matthews Band Caravan festivals this summer have been announced: July 8-10 at Chicago's Lakeside on the south shore of Lake Michigan.
The lineup for the shows -- DMB's only Midwest concert performances of the year -- includes David Gray, Ray LaMontagne, O.A.R., Kid Cudi, the Flaming Lips performing Pink Floyd's "Dark Side of the Moon," Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros, Amos Lee, Emmylou Harris, Ben Folds, G. Love & Special Sauce, Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings, Gomez, Drive-By Truckers, Michael Franti & Spearhead, Daniel Lanois' Black Dub, the Jayhawks, Soja, Soulive, the Wailers, Blind Pilot, Dirty Dozen Brass Band, TR3, Vieux Farka Toure, Alberta Cross, Mariachi El Bronx, Bobby Long, Ivan Neville's Dumpstaphunk, Jeff Coffin's Mu'tet, Gary Clark Jr., and the Summer Camp Saturday Stage, featuring artists who will also be appearing at this year's Summer Camp Music Festival. The Lakeside Caravan will also feature special performances by Dave Matthews Band members Carter Beauford and Stefan Lessard, plus a Dave Matthews & Tim Reynolds acoustic set. Additional acts will be announced soon and a full festival schedule will be released.
DMB will be performing all three days of the festival; the other acts are scheduled to perform once.
The first of the Caravan fests was announced March 9 for June 24-26 at Bader Field, former site of the Atlantic City (New Jersey) Municipal Airport. The shows are conceived as destination events and are designed to let the fans come to DMB as opposed to DMB visiting 60-plus cities as on a traditional tour. Still to come are announcements for Caravans in August and September.
As in Atlantic City, tickets for the Chicago event will be available as three-day passes only. An online ticket request period for the Chicago festival begins today, April 7, at www.warehouse.davematthewsband.com. Citi cardmembers will have access to presale tickets beginning April 11.
