Having wrapped the first season of NBC's "The Voice" last evening, Cee Lo Green is set to celebrate the opening of Universal CityWalk's 5 Towers outdoor concert arena. He will take the stage at the high-tech venue on Thursday, July 7 at 8 p.m. for a free public concert.
Green's appearance also celebrates the launch of 5 Towers' "Plugged In" free summer concert series that kicks off tomorrow (July1) and runs through Aug. 28. The series' weekend lineups will encompass a wide array of music genres performed by various acts as well as a "Close to Home" music showcase featuring several of Los Angeles' most promising local bands. The list of "Plugged In" performers include the Spazmatics (July 2), Alien Ant Farm (July 9), Carolina Liar (July 16) and NBC's "The Sing Off" finalists the Backbeats (Aug. 13). The concert series' calendar, which includes Latin music performances, is available at www.CityWalkHollywood.com.
5 Towers marks the first major renovation at Universal CityWalk in a decade. The interactive outdoor arena features a technologically advanced staging system equipped with thousands of LED fixtures, motion capture sensors, five soaring 42-foot light tower sculptures, a massive video monitor and a state-of-the-art audio system. Among the interactive components: strategically located underground weight sensors that will allow guests to manipulate the volume of lights that appear within the five decorative light towers.
