Cheap Trick Cancels Vancouver Show Due to Stage Concerns

As Ontario's Ministry of Labour continues its investigation of the stage collapse during Cheap Trick's performance at the Cisco Ottawa Bluesfest last month, the band is playing it safe and cancelling a Sept. 1 show because it was scheduled to take place on stage supplied by the same company, Groupe Berger.

In a statement, Cheap Trick said that it "has no other option to cancel," since Groupe Berger is scheduled to provide the stage for its planned performance at the Pacific National Exhibition in Vancouver.

"Unless current investigations prove otherwise, the band will not as a matter of principle, but more importantly as a matter of safety, appear on a Berger stage for the future," the statement continues.

Even though Groupe Berger executives insist that rogue weather was the main cause behind the stage collapse, Cheap Trick issued a statement last week questioning whether it was the sole cause .
