Festivals have had a banner year, and combined with the massive surge of electronic music over the past few years, Gary Richards of Hard Events is a very happy man. After participating in the panel "Why Are Festivals Kicking Ass?" at the Billboard Touring Conference he got a little more personal in talking about why his own genre was taking off.
Richards discussed the increase in both quality and quantity in the electronic music scene, with more artists making better music every day. He also talked about riding the wave of electronic music without outgrowing the scene, keeping the festivals smaller but jam-packed with quality, and the importance of working with the cities, police departments and fire departments to make sure his festivals go off without a hitch.
