"This is going to be an unforgettable experience for fans in Wildwood and those enjoying the livestream wherever they are," Chesney said in a statement. "Working with Jonathan Demme to bring together elements of my new album to this classic American beach boardwalk venue has been terrific."

Chesney is the second country act to perform as part of "Unstaged," following Sugarland's collaboration with Kenny Ortega in 2010. Deborah Curtis, American Express' VP of entertainment and marketing sponsorships, says the fans who tuned in to that episode are among the most engaged in terms of time spent watching the live-stream, and helped cement country as a genre worth exploring for future installments. "We recognized that the power of the country music audience and the rabid fanbase of Kenny Chesney could be a really strong combination," she says.

As for teaming Chesney with the director most famous for bringing Hannibal Lecter to the big screen, Curtis calls the match-up an "interesting challenge" on par with recent pairings like Jack White and Gary Oldman. "We like those unexpected choices," she says. "We look for artists with different perspectives and different chemistry that we can help bring to the table. Jonathan Demme has such an unbelievable point of view and we think he's gonna take this particular show to the next level for the at-home viewer."

As more fans interact and tweet about the live show, they can help "unlock" special features that could impact the performance. Since the Jersey Shore show will be a beach party, one feature could involve beach balls, Curtis hinted.

To cue up his "Unstaged" appearance, Chesney participated in an AmEx Express Pass Q&A with Billboard's Ray Waddell this April ( .) Chesney's Brothers of the Sun tour with Tim McGraw, one of the season's hottest tickets, kicked off June 2 in Tampa.
