Independent CD and DVD manufacturer Disc Makers announced they have acquired independent music seller CD Baby, following a 7-year close strategic partnership between the two companies.

Based in Portland, Oregon, CD Baby allows independent musicians sell their music in both physical and digital formats through its online store cdbaby.com. CD Baby also states is is the largest provider of independent music for Apple iTunes and other digital download sellers like Amazon MP3, Napster, and Rhapsody.

CD Baby will continue to operate as a separate company, focused on online CD sales, distribution, and download sales, and founder Derek Sivers will continue to be involved with CD Baby as a consultant.
