Two new U2 recordings will be released on exclusive 10" vinyl as part of Record Store Day's Black Friday this Nov. 29, according to the Record Store Day website. "Ordinary Love"/Breathe (Interscope), will only be pressed in a limited edition run of 10,000, according to Modern Vinyl.
"Ordinary Love" is a new track written for the film "Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom" which also comes out on Black Friday. The band wrote the song at the invitation of movie producer Harvey Weinstein. "Breathe," which originally appeared on "No Line On The Horizon," is a new recording and will be titled on the credits as the "Mandela Version."
U2's website explained that the band, who are friends with Nelson Mandela, were inspired to write the music after seeing early cuts of the film directed by Justin Chadwick and starring Idris Elba and Naomie Harris.
The artwork for the new release features a painting of Nelson Mandela by Irish artist Oliver Jeffers. Oliver, along with Mac Premo, has also directed a lyric video for Ordinary Love which we'll carry on U2.com during November.
A short snippet of "Ordinary Love" can be heard at the end of the trailer for the film below.
