As Grammy weekend begins, we're taking a mid-stream look at our readers' poll results so far -- and we've got some surprises.
As of Friday afternoon, Fun. was sweeping the polls with the most votes tallied in the categories of Album of the Year, Best New Artist, and Best Pop Vocal Album. Taylor Swift topped Record of the Year, while Ed Sheeran eliminated Fun.’s chances of a full-house with “The A Team” for Song of the Year.
Other top nominees included a tight battle for first between Miranda Lambert and Hunter Hayes for in Best Country Album category, as well as Gotye’s “Making Mirrors” for Best Alternative Album and Drake’s “Take Care” for Best Rap Album.
Not surpisingly, Skrillex is leading for Best Electronica Album of the Year, while Coldplay and Muse try to regain their previous Grammy titles in the Best Rock Album division. As a whole, however, the results are showing promise for fresh faces at the podium this year. Although major artist such as Bruce Springsteen and Fiona Apple are putting up a fight for the old-school, “We Are Young” seems to be the tune everyone will be humming leaving this year’s Grammy Awards.
Check back Monday morning and we'll see how our final results compare with the actual winners -- and if you haven't already, VOTE!
