Island Def Jam today announced the promotion of Yvette Davila to vice president of Mixshow Promotions, according to Def Jam SVP Shawn "Pecas" Costner. Davila previously had worked as senior director of street promotion, a position she held since 2011.
In her new role, Davila will continue overseeing street promotion and marketing, while also handling all mixshow elements for urban, top 40, and rhythm radio formats.
“I am honored and excited to expand my role at IDJ,” said Davila in a statement. “This is a dream job for a girl from Brooklyn, who is a true fan of music, culture and the astonishing talent that our label group represents. I’ve been extremely fortunate to have an amazing mentor in Shawn ‘Pecas’ Costner, and privileged to work alongside Steve Bartels, Joie Manda and the stellar promotion team led by Rick Sackheim and Rodney Shealey. I look forward to a future filled with great chart-topping music.”
Davila joined IDJ in 2005 as national director of street promotion, having previously worked at Violator/AMG, Arista Records, and Full Surface Records.
“It has been my privilege to work alongside Yvette for the past 15 years,” said Costner in a press release. “Her hard work and dedication in breaking new artists has been not only beneficial to the promotion department but also to the Island Def Jam brand. Yvette is the promotion department’s secret weapon when it comes to having great relationships with the mixshow and club DJ community. I’m excited to see her continued growth at IDJ.”
