Digital sheet music distributor Musicnotes posted its first full-year operating profit in 2006, increasing sales by 45% to more than $5.5 million.

The Madison, Wis.-based company announced today (Feb. 14) that it sold nearly 850,000 downloads of sheet music in 2006 and added 250,000 new customers.

Year-to-date sales are up almost 50%, with more than 125,000 downloads sold
this year through mid-February. Among the most popular is music from the new
Evanescence album, "The Open Door," and from several movies, including "Music and Lyrics."
