Sony/ATV Music Publishing has signed Grammy winning songwriter/producer John Shanks to a co-publishing deal and acquired the rights to his catalog of songs.

Among the songs that Shanks has penned are Michelle Branch's "Everywhere," Ashlee Simpson's "Pieces of Me," Sheryl Crow's "Steve McQueen" and Keith Urban's "Once in a Lifetime" and "Somebody Like You."

As a Grammy winning producer, Shanks produced hits like Kelly Clarkson's "Breakaway," Sheryl Crow's "Soak Up the Sun" and Bon Jovi's "Who Says You Can't go Home."

"The foundation of great music companies rests upon the work of incredibly talented songwriter/producers," says Sony/ATV chairman/CEO Marty Bandier. "John Shanks is one of those individuals around whom you build the future. We are exceedingly proud to have him join our family."

Shanks is managed by Tim McDaniel with McDaniel Entertainment.
