Ian Ramage has been appointed to the new post as head of A&R for Sony/ATV Music Publishing's operations in the U.K. and Continental Europe, with effect from Jan. 7, 2008.

Based in the music publisher's new central London premises in Golden Square, Ramage will report to Sony/ATV chairman/CEO Martin Bandier for his Continental European responsibilities, and to Rak Sanghvi, managing director of Sony/ATV U.K., for his U.K. duties.

"Ian has had an incredible run of working with and developing successful artists and writers," commented Bandier in a statement. "He is a welcome addition to our growing company and an executive who I can trust to help guide us in our European creative operations."

In the statement, Sanghvi described Ramage as "a giant in the world of music publishing," and added, "I know we will accomplish great things together going forward."

Ramage most recently served as GM of BMG Music Publishing U.K., and head of A&R prior to that.

Having joined BMG Publishing in 1996, Ramage went on to play a key role in building the careers of Coldplay, Keane, Elvis Costello, the Cure and Feist, among others. He has earlier label experience with EMI Records, EastWest Records and Polydor Records.
