BMI veteran Nick Robinson has joined Kobalt Music Group as senior VP business development.

Robinson takes up his new position at the independent music publisher's London headquarters after a six-year stint with BMI, the U.S. performing right organization, where he most recently served as senior executive writer/publisher relations, Europe.

During his time with BMI, Robinson was responsible for the signing and relationships with such major artists as Radiohead, Natasha Bedingfield, Mika, James Blunt, Keane, Duffy, Sigur Ros, Hard-Fi, Klaxons, Aqualung, and Estelle. Prior to that, he worked with EMI Records U.K. for five years, three of which were served as head of the company's A&R department.

Speaking about the new appointment, Kobalt's founder and CEO Willard Ahdritz said Robinson's "breadth of experience and knowledge of the industry will be of tremendous asset to Kobalt as we expand our base of operations throughout Europe and grow our global artist/writer roster."

At Kobalt, Robinson reports to Sas Metcalfe, executive VP of creative.
