London-based music and media company MAMA Group has formed a new publishing joint venture with Canadian label and management company Nettwerk Music Group.

Manett Publishing Limited will be based in MAMA's London headquarters and will be administered worldwide by Nettwerk's existing publishing business, Nettwerk One Music.

"When MAMA Group became a partner in Nettwerk Music Group late last year this was exactly the kind of joint venture activity we envisaged flowing from our collaboration," said MAMA Group co-CEO Adam Driscoll in a statement. "Through this new business we are able to combine some of the best assets of our two businesses."

Already on its roster are Universal-signed artist Yoav, indie rockers Johnny Foreigner (Best Before Records), alt-rock stalwarts Super Furry Animals (Virgin) and its frontman, Gruff Rhys (Rough Trade Records) in a solo capacity. Rhys' other musical project, Neon Neon, was recently named in the 2008 Mercury Music Prize shortlist for its "Stainless Style" record.

Blair McDonald of Nettwerk U.K. added: "This is a great opportunity for both companies to create an exciting publishing catalogue, sourced form the various talent streams that the MAMA divisions can access whilst using the international reach and film and TV licensing expertise we have developed here at Nettwerk."

Driscoll and McDonald are co-directors of Manett and McDonald oversees the day-to-day running of the company, alongside his duties running Nettwerk's London publishing division.
