BMI has joined other U.S. Copyright organizations in supporting and commenting on the White House efforts to develop a coordinated intellectual property enforcement strategy.

The comments were requested by the U.S. Intellectual Property Enforcement Coordinator Victoria Espinel, who is charged with putting together the plan as required by the "Prioritizing Resources and Organization for Intellectual Property Act" (PRO-IP Act) signed into law in 2008.

The government will build its strategy by tapping into the knowledge and expertise of the copyright community, including BMI, and other agencies charged with enforcing intellectual property rights, to more effectively combat intellectual property infringement in the United States and around the world.

Prior to the filing, BMI's senior VP of corporate planning/communications & new media Richard Conlon, and BMI's senior VP of government relations Fred Cannon, met with Espinel to discuss "BMI's position on crucial intellectual property issues and provide input on developing new, more effective means of enforcement," according to a BMI press release.
