Eurythmics guitarist Dave Stewart has joined forces with mobile giant Nokia and Los Angeles-based digital platform Indaba Music to launch an international songwriting competition in aid of charitable causes.

To enter the competition contestants are invited to submit original music compositions to the Indaba Music website (www.indabamusic.com), which have been directly inspired by Conspiracy for Good, an interactive online TV series that is available to download for free from Nokia's Ovi app store.

Stewart is among the competition's judging panel, which will pick five winners, each set to receive a prize of $1,000. Mat Osman, the bassist with recently reformed U.K. rock band Suede, is also a judge for the songwriting competition, which has an Aug. 31 deadline.

Filmed in London, Conspiracy for Good (CFG) is a four-part interactive online TV series, funded by Nokia and written and produced by Tim Kring Enterprises. Tim Kring is the creator of NBC sci-fi drama series Heroes.

Music artists sit at the heart of CFG -- contributing not just music to the show's soundtrack but also acting in the principal roles. U.S. rock violinist Ann Marie Calhoun and Jamaican rap/hip hop singer Nadirah X, both signed to Stewart's multi-media label Weapons of Mass Entertainment, are among the stars of the show, with music featured available to purchase from the Ovi store.

A percentage of proceeds resulting from the download sales of music featured within the series are donated to a number of international charities, including Room To Read, the global children's literacy charity, and the Chataika Basic School in Zambia.

"CFG is a platform that allows people to participate inside the story narrative and really do some good," Robert Soderstrom, COO Tim Kring Enterprises, tells Billboard.biz.

In a statement, Stewart added: "promoting social benefits through this new entertainment experience is the focus of CFG."

The final episode of CFG will be screened online Aug. 7. An intimate gig featuring Stewart, Calhoun and Nadirah X will be held in the United Kingdom following the series wrap. Ticket details and the location of the show, which will be exclusively accessible to CFG followers, is yet to be announced.
