Rondor Music Publishing, a division of Universal Music Group, has promoted Kevin Hall to Executive Vice President of Creative, it was announced today by company President Lance Freed, to whom Hall reports. Hall was formerly Senior Vice President of Urban Music for the company.
In his new role, Hall will continue to discover and develop new and established songwriters, as well as coordinating with Rondor's synch and licensing departments to create writer collaborations and secure song placements on album projects, as well as for film, TV, videogames and numerous other media platforms, according to a press release.
"Kevin's track record of success speaks for itself," Freed said. "Quite simply, Kevin has become one of the best publishers in the business. He subscribes to the Rondor philosophy of signing quality songwriters, producers and recording artists and nurturing their talent before they achieve success. By expanding the playing field for him, I expect Kevin to excel even more."
Since joining Rondor in 2003, Hall has signed a roster of songwriters tht includes Jason Derulo, James Fauntleroy (whose hits include Jordin Sparks' "No Air"), Sly Jordan, Kwame, Trak Starz, Bobby Valentino and others, and has implemented joint ventures with producers Harvey Mason Jr. and Damon Thomas for Underdog Entertainment and with producer J.R. Rotem and partner Zach Katz for Beluga Heights/Net Worth Entertainment.
Prior to joining Rondor, Hall worked at Music Hype, a company noted for building websites for Atlantic, Warner Brothers, Sony, Virgin and others, and was Vice President of A&R for Island Records. He began his career in music publishing at PolyGram Music Publishing, where he served as Director of A&R, a title he concurrently held at Atlas Records.
