Getty Images Music and Atom Factory Music Licensing (AFML) announced a partnership Monday that will give Getty over 1,000 original tracks and artists from the AFML catalog as well as composition and supervision services. It is Getty's first significant deal with a music production company that adds mainstream sounds and tracks to its music offering, and it is AFML's first commercial licensing distribution deal.
AFML is the music licensing and supervision company founded by manager Troy Carter (Lady Gaga), music supervisor Paul Stewart ("Hustle & Flow") and the multi-platinum producing team The Co-Stars ("BarberShop" & "Barborshop 2," "Four Brothers"). AFML is well known in the film industry and commercials, Melinda Lee, Director, Getty Images Music, tells Billboard.biz. "The name Troy Carter conjures an idea of the type of music they're dealing with."
As part of the deal, Getty will serve as the commercial licensing platform distribution for the AFML Library of over 1,000 original tracks and artists that have been produced, procured and developed by Troy Carter and his team. The pre-cleared AFML tracks will available on Getty Images' customers at for commercial licensing on October 17th.
In addition, AFML will also provide Getty Images Music with music supervision services for its customers' projects. The partnership is well suited for Getty's customers, says Lee. "AFML has an understanding of trends before they hit, she says, while Getty has intelligence through its sales team and research."
