The Imagem Music Group has just made two big signings.
Imagem Music Group/Rogers & Hammerstein has re-signed its deal to represent the Irving Berlin Music Company, and Imagem Music USA has inked a worldwide, multi-year publishing agreement with the Sammy Cahn estate. The deal with the Irving Berlin Music Company is for international brand management and grand rights exploitation, and music publishing in North America.
"Our partnership with the IBMC and the Irving Berlin family began in 1990," Rogers & Hammerstein president Ted Chapin said in a statement. "We have enjoyed working with Mr. Berlin's three visionary daughters over the years, with unprecedented success in the arenas of publishing, recordings, TV specials, books and events, major revivals of his musicals on Broadway, in London, and on the concert stage, and the creation of new stage properties such as 'White Christmas' and 'Top Hat.'"
The Berlin song catalog contains 1,200 songs, including "Puttin' on the Ritz," "Easter Parade," "Always," "Blue Skies," "Cheek to Cheek," "There's No Business Like Show Business," "Alexander's Ragtime Band" and "God Bless America." Meanwhile, the catalog of Cahn, who in addition being an Academy Award-winning songwriter, was a longtime VP of ASCAP and president emeritus of the Songwriters Hall of Fame (1973-93), includes "Three Coins in the Fountain," "Come Fly With Me," "Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!," "Love and Marriage" and "Saturday Night is the Loneliest Night of the Week."
"Sammy always said, 'If the song is No. 1, I wish my name were on it!'," Tita Cahn, his wife of 22 years, said in a statement. "He was definitely not an old stuffy pretentious guy who closed his ears to any form of music. He embraced it all, and I know he would have loved the energy at Imagem, where rock & roll, hip hop and rap, Broadway and classical live side by side."
