Attendees included some of the most powerful names in the music business, including Sony/ATV Music Publishing Chairman/CEO Martin Bandier; RCA Records President/COO Tom Corson; MTV EVP, Music and Talent, Amy Doyle; RCA Music Group CEO Peter Edge; Glassnote Records founder/CEO, Daniel Glass; Atlantic Records Chairman/COO Julie Greenwald; Columbia Records EVP/GM Joel Klaiman; and Republic Records Chairman/CEO Monte Lipman.

Portnow took over as president of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences in 2003. MusiCares, one of the Academy's best known charitable efforts, raises funds to help music people in need.
