Apple SVP Eddy Cue will be the next recipient of City of Hope's 'Spirit of Life' award, given to those who have had a significant impact on the entertainment industry. The award's previous honorees is a who's-who of music industry leaders including Irving Azoff, Rob Light, Neil Portnow, Quincy Jones, Ed Bronfman and many others.
"I'm truly honored to be this year's recipient of the Spirit of Life Award. The research that City of Hope does impacts the lives of millions and their work personally means a lot to me," said Eddy Cue. "City of Hope uses the latest research and technology to fight cancer and other catastrophic diseases. I hope that everyone who can, gives what they can, to City of Hope so they can continue to fight the battle against cancer."
The entertainment industry group that shares part of its name with City of Hope, a research and treatment center for life-threatening diseases founded in 1913, holds fundraisers and events throughout the country, raising money for cancer research. The organization has raised over $100 million dollars since its founding.
Cue will accept the award in Los Angeles on October 23rd at a yet-to-be-determined location.
