Charles Garland announced that he is stepping down from his position as CEO at Sony Music division Syco Entertainment, Simon Cowell's music, film, and television production company, reports Complete Music Update.
“I leave the business in magnificent shape and poised for further growth," Garland said in a statement. "Throughout my career I have always been keen to push on and seek out new challenges and for me now is the right time to do so."
Garland was promoted from COO at the company in 2012 after joining Syco in 2011. Previously, he was an executive at "American Idol" producer 19 Entertainment before founding his own talent and brand agency Crystal Entertainment in 2007.
Added Cowell, “Charles is a true gentleman and a very talented executive. And I now wish him well with his future plans," which have not been revealed yet.
Syco Entertainment includes the "X Factor" and "Got Talent" TV franchises in addition to record label Syco Music, which counts artists like One Direction, Susan Boyle, and Little Mix in its roster.
