Christopher Roberts has been named Festival Director of Toronto, Ontario's North By Northeast Festival.
Previously, Roberts worked for Vice, serving as head of artist relations at its record label and managing director of its Experiential Department. With Vice Records, he scouted and signed artists like Black Lips, Action Bronson, and the Raveonettes. He also lent his expertise towards curating and staging live events around the world, including Vice's own Creators Fest and the brand's initiatives at festivals like Bonnaroo and SXSW.
“We are thrilled to add Christopher's leadership to the NXNE team," said NXNE president Michael Hollett via press release. "He has been crucial in building the VICE brand worldwide and his diverse experience fits perfectly with our ambitious goals to build NXNE into one of the greatest cultural festivals in the world."
The long-running alt-rock fest, which is slated to run June 10-16 this year, has so far announced acts like the National, Big Boi, Social Distorion, and Joey Bada$$.
