Mathew Knowles' Music World Entertainment has acquired Houston-based
independent roots label, Compadre Records. Brad Turcotte will maintain his role as president of Compadre, and the label will continue to exist as an imprint through Music World, and will be distributed via Fontana. Terms of the deal were not announced.

Compadre, which has released albums from Billy Joe Shaver and James McMurty,
among others, has also named former V2 staffer Kristie Vogel as its VP of promotion. Music World assumes control of Compadre's catalog, and, according
to a statement, pledges to keep the label active.

"I had been reviewing interest from other potential suitors for a couple of years, but everything seemed like a lateral move," said Turcotte in a release. "However, Mr. Knowles and his team not only offer an extreme knowledge of mainstream promotion, but his company has a strong, aggressive grassroots marketing system."
