The American Association of Independent Music (A2IM) has hired Ted Cohen to serve as a digital business development consultant for the organization. In the role, Cohen will assist the members of the independent record label trade organization in navigating the digital space.

Cohen previously helped craft the licensing agreements upon which the Rhapsody subscription service and the iTunes Music Store were originally built. Before that, he served as executive VP of Digital Music Network Inc., a company he co-founded, and also served as chairman of the Webnoize conferences. Additionally, he served as senior VP of digital development and distribution for EMI Music.

Cohen will be based in Southern California and will work with the A2IM staff and board.
