Spotify, Bon Iver, Arcade Fire Take Home First Ever Libera Awards

At the June 21 Libera Awards, Beggars Group founder and CEO Martin Mills will be presented with a lifetime achievement award presented by Sire Records co-founder Seymour Stein.

The Amercian Association of Independent Music will launch its inaugural Libera Awards on June 21 at Le Poisson Rouge in New York City from 7:00 - 10:00 p.m. EST. The ceremony caps off A21M's annual indie week.

A2IM To Produce First Ever Independent Music Awards

The event, which will by hosted by actor/comedian John Ross Bowie, will honor independent music by presenting awards in such categories as: the best independent album of the year; best packaging, best sync placement; best video and best indie label.

Century Media, Jagjaguwar and Ninja Tune received the most label nominations. Independent Album of the Year nominations, which went to albums released between January 1, 2011 - February 29, 2012 are: Bon Iver's Bon Iver (Jagjaguwar), M83's Hurry Up We're Dreaming (Mute), Mac Miller's Blue Slide Park (Rostrum), Paul Simon's So Beautiful or So What (Hear Music), PJ Harvey's Let England Shake (Vagrant) and The Civil Wars' Barton Hollow (sensibility music).
