The CV Group has rolled subsidiary Essential USA into its newly launched CV America which will be headed up by Erik Gilbert.
In addition to the global platform for marketing and distribution services that Essential US provided to North American labels, the new venture will also act as a stand-alone music publisher, which will sign new writers and exploit Cooking Vinyl Publishing copyrights in the U.S.
CV America's clients include Sumerian, Vagrant, Thirty Tigers, MRI, and Razor & Tie, while its publishing roster includes the Virginmarys, Audio Bullys, 65daysofstatic, Kathryn Williams, Reverend & the Makers, the Last Dinosaur, and Mersault.
"The creation of CV America makes complete strategic sense for the entire organization, especially with the Group's expansion into licensing and label services," Gilbert said in a statement. "As well as administering Cooking Vinyl publishing activities in the USA, we will also have a budget to sign writers and represent them throughout the world. On that front, there will be exciting announcements in the months ahead."
Cooking Vinyl Publishing MD Paul Kinder labeled CV America an important development for the company, and said that having its own publishing company in the U.S. will open up possibilities for the company's writers and artists.
Prior to heading up Essential US, Gilbert was a senior executive at IODA.
