Katie Melua's sophomore September 2005 album release "Piece By Piece" (Dramatic) scored a third IFPI Platinum Europe Award in November, according to new certifications unveiled by the trade body today (Dec. 11).

"We are extremely proud to have helped Katie to this high level of achievement particularly in light of the independent structure of our company and the hard work and expertise that has been brought to bear by our fantastic independent distributors throughout Europe," comments Mike Batt, chairman of Dramatico Entertainment, in a statement.

"Katie will hear about this tremendous achievement just before her sell-out concert at the Olympia in Paris," added Batt, "an appropriate venue for such an exciting announcement and a wonderful way to round off another superb year."

Also during the month, IFPI Platinum Europe status was bestowed to four albums: Gnarls Barkley's "St. Elsewhere" (Warner Bros.), Justin Timberlake's "Futuresex/Lovesounds" (Jive), The Beatles' "Love" (Apple) and U2's "U218 Singles" (Mercury).

IFPI Platinum Europe Awards recognize albums which have shipped more than one million units across Europe.
