David Martin has departed as director of the BPI's anti-piracy unit. It is understood Martin left the London-based organization in early December for personal reasons.

BPI anti-piracy investigator David Wood will temporarily fill the void as manager of the unit, reporting to BPI general counsel Roz Groome.

"We are very pleased that David has agreed to cover this position," comments Groome in a statement. "The fact that we have been able to fill the role internally is a testament to the strength of the APU team."

Wood has spearheaded many of the trade body's key private prosecutions in the last four years, and has previously served with the Leeds Police force.

Going forward, Wood and Groome are to establish a new liaison committee with the IFPI to ensure maximum cooperation on the industry's international anti-piracy activities.
