A selection of Africa's top artists will get the chance to showcase their talents this weekend before an audience of global leaders.

The acts will perform Jan. 27 at the "Celebrate Africa" party, which will cap the World Economic Forum's Annual General Meeting at the Davos Congress Centre in Switzerland. Some 2,000 delegates are expected to attend the conference.

South African Afro-soul singer Simphiwe Dana and acoustic act Seed will perform at the MTV-organized closing gala, as will Nigerian R&B heavyweight 2-Face Idibia, winner of the MTV Europe Music Award's inaugural 2005 best African act category.

In a statement, Alex Okosi, MTV Networks Africa VP and GM, comments, "The future of the African content rests with our young people. This event provides a great opportunity to celebrate the incredible talent and energy that is fuelling today's Africa - an Africa that recognizes its challenges and is determined to realize its own great potential."

MTV base is MTV Network Africa's premiere channel. Launched in February 2005, the channel claims 48.5 million viewers in sub-Saharan Africa.
