Wolfgang Orthmayr will be the new managing director of Sony BMG Switzerland, with effect from March 1.

He is to succeed Annelies Hophan, who will step out of the business after more than 30 years' service, which included stints with CBS, Sony Music and later Sony BMG.

Orthmayr will report to Maarten Steinkamp, president Sony BMG Continental Europe.

Orthmayr is currently VP, commercial affairs, at Sony BMG Continental Europe, Prior to that, he was senior VP, sales, Sony BMG Germany, having previously held the same position for Sony Music Germany.

Before joining the recorded music giant in early 2003, Orthmayr worked with German retailer World Of Music (WOM) for seventeen years, where he rose to managing director in 1995. He was also co-founder and former president of German retailers' trade group HAMM.
