Publishers of U.K. music weekly the New Musical Express (NME) have pulled the plug on its special Irish edition less than four months after it was launched.

The Irish edition of the publication featured local live reviews, listings and music news, but Dublin-based section editor Steve Cummins recently admitted on local radio station Phantom FM that the budget for advertising and marketing had been negligible.

The first edition of NME Ireland back in October featured Dublin band Humanzi on the cover. Media commentators, however, complained that local acts had since been neglected. Last Wednesday's edition, featuring Bloc Party on the cover, was the last edition of NME Ireland.

The NME is owned by London-based IPC Publishing.
