EMI Music has forged an advertising-supported music video streaming deal with AOL Europe, covering the United Kingdom, French and German markets.

The pact, unveiled Monday (Jan. 5), allows users to stream music videos free-of-charge via the AOL portal.

EMI, in a statement, has pledged to make all forthcoming new releases available, and various music videos from its catalog.

More than 1,000 promos, including clips by British artists Coldplay, Corinne Bailey Rae, Norah Jones and Lily Allen, France's Camille, Diam's and Raphael and Germany's Wir Sind Helden and La Fee, will feature.

"We believe that the agreement creates greater scope to promote and profile new artists as well as established acts to AOL users, while at the same time ensuring that EMI and its artists are fairly compensated for their work," comments Mike McMahon, senior VP of commercial and digital media, EMI Music U.K.

AOL will also run editorial content such as "Artist of the Month" and "Breakers" to help promote the EMI artists. Exclusive "AOL Sessions" for streaming are in the planning stage.
