Musicbrigade, the Stockholm, Sweden-based digital content aggregator, has teamed with RTL interactive to launch what both companies describe as Germany's "most extensive online digital music service to date."

The joint platform at musicbrigade.rtl.de and musicbrigade.de offers 1.5 million audio files and 20,000 music videos for downloading and streaming. Licensing agreements have been struck with a long list of independent labels including Domino and Edel, as well as all four majors, according to a Musicbrigade spokesman.

In addition, the sites will offer editorial coverage on a wide range of music topics as well as a community interface for fan interaction. The service will be accompanied by an extensive local TV and online advertising campaign.

"More and more music lovers are expressing a preference for a platform where they can legally download their favorite songs in both audio and video format," comments Tom Sonntag, director of the portal at RTL interactive, the online division of European broadcaster and media firm RTL.

"We can now provide this service in cooperation with Musicbrigade and we are certain that our concept will prove itself very popular in Germany just as it has in other European countries."

Musicbrigade's audio and video music service currently operates in 17 markets.
