Canadian singer/instrumentalist Loreena McKennitt will begin a North American tour in April with 21 U.S. dates and five Canadian dates. The trek is in support of her debut, "An Ancient Muse" (Verve/Quinlan Road).

The jaunt, which kicks off at Massey Hall in Toronto on April 15, is McKennitt's first tour since 1998. It follows a previously announced 21-date European tour, which begins March 11 in Stuttgart, Germany, and finishes in Atwerp, Belgium, on April 6.

PBS in the United States will air "Loreena McKennitt: Nights from The Alhambra" on its "Great Performances" series during March. The program was filmed over a span of two nights in September of 2006 at the Alhambra in Granada, Spain. During the program McKennitt performs many of her well-known originals including "The Mummers' Dance," "The Lady Of Shallot," and "The Mystic's Dream," as well as songs from "An Ancient Muse" which, according to sources, has sold over 500,000 units worldwide since being released worldwide Nov. 21.

McKennitt is self-managed, self-produced and operates her own label, Quinlan Road.
