The Diesel-U-Music international unsigned artist competition is gearing up for another year.

From April 2 until May 11, artists can submit tracks in the categories indie/rock, electronic and urban/hip-hop, via the official Web site www.diesel-u-music.com.

Judged by a jury of established musicians and members of the music industry and press, the U.K. finalists from the three genres will be announced on May 16. They will go on to perform a string of U.K. dates from May 18-25.

Finalists from around the world will be chosen and unveiled in June to join the U.K. bunch, and battle it out for the top spot on the televised Diesel-U-Music Awards in London in July.

Now in its seventh year, the competition tallied 8,000 entries last year, according to a spokesperson. Past winners include We Are Scientists, Mylo and The Infadels.

Sponsors for this year's event include Billboard, Warner Music, Music Week, XFM, Channel 4 and ITB.
