Steely Dan will be the first act to play the new Billboard Live Tokyo venue, which opens Aug. 18.

Other acts scheduled to perform at Billboard Live Tokyo include Jill Scott, Joe, Aleksander With, Babyface and Amerie, according to Osaka-based Hanshin Contents Link, which last September signed a master licensing deal for Japan with Billboard publisher Nielsen Business Media (then known as VNU Business Media).

The 10,763-sq.-ft., 320-seat venue is located in the new Tokyo Midtown development in the Japanese capital's Roppongi entertainment district. Opening dates and artist line-ups for the Osaka and Fukuoka Billboard Live venues, now operating under the Blue Note brand, will be announced toward the end of April, Hanshin said today.

Acts will typically play two sets an evening during a week-long engagement.
