Japan will host two live-music events as part of the 24-hour, 7-continent Live Earth concert series to combat global warming on July 7, organizers said today.

The Makuhari Messe venue, in Chiba Prefecture, east of Tokyo, will be the scene of a day-long "Live Earth" concert, while another show will be held the same day at the Toji Buddhist temple in the western Japanese city of Kyoto later the same day.

Performers scheduled to perform at the Makuhari Messe events include female vocalists Ai, Ai Otsuka and Cocco, plus Linkin Park and Japanese band Rize, while the Kyoto show will feature Japanese hip-hop group Rip Slyme and veteran electro-pop group Yellow Magic Orchestra.
