MTV Networks International has made two key Singapore-based promotions.

Amit Jain, previously the Mumbai, India-based executive VP/managing director of MTV Networks, India, takes the newly created position of executive vp/managing director of MTV Networks India, China and Southeast Asia, with immediate effect.

Jain is relocating to Singapore and will report to MTVNI president Bob Bakish.

Simultaneously, MTV Networks Asia VP, research and planning Ian Stewart has taken on the newly-created post of senior VP, Viacom Brand Solutions International. The role encompasses all sales and research responsibilities for Asia. He will continue to be based in Singapore with a dual reporting line to Jain and Kevin Razvi, the executive VP and managing director, VBS International.

In a statement, Jain acknowledged the challenges facing MTV in the territories he will now oversee: "Asia is one of the biggest paradoxes for broadcasters," he said. "While it is the single-largest market in terms of population and TV households, it is also challenged with the diversity of culture, infrastructure and above all developing a viable business model. I am looking forward to leveraging MTVN Asia's talent for unlocking the true potential of the market."

Bakish added: "Amit's leadership, vision and success in setting up our new joint venture in India made it clear that he was ready to expand his role and step up to drive growth across key Asian businesses."

Ravzi said of Stewart's promotion: "Ian is highly regarded as one of the key experts on Asian youth. "With a roster of global, regional and local multimedia brands that continue to connect with audiences in unparalleled ways, he's the perfect choice to further our business relationships in the region."
