Joachim Harbich, managing director at EMI Music Germany and Austria subsidiary Capitol, has left the Cologne-based company for personal reasons in order to work in Hamburg again.

Harbich was appointed in March after being poached from Hamburg-based edel, where he was also managing director. He declined to give any explanations about his future plans.

The company has not yet announced a replacement.

But EMI confirmed in Cologne today that Uli Mucke, marketing director Capitol, will expand his role into that of director marketing and promotion for Capitol/Electrola/Odeon, with immediate effect.

Until a new managing director is found, Mucke will be reporting on an interim basis to Birgit Adels, president EMI Music Germany and Austria. The same applies to Capitol A and R director Daniel Schmidt.
