Warner Music International has promoted Bernd Dopp to chairman and CEO of Warner Music Central and Eastern Europe.

At the same time, Manfred Lappe, president of Warner Music Eastern Europe and COO of Warner Music G/S/A, has retired from the company after 33 years' service, WMI said in a statement today.

Dopp, who joined Warner Music Germany as a product manager at WEA in 1984, has served as chairman and CEO of Warner Music Germany/Switzerland/Austria since 2004. His current responsibility for WMI's business in Germany, Switzerland and Austria is to be extended to include the Czech Republic, Hungary and Poland, including licensees in Eastern Europe.

Dopp will continue to run the business from Hamburg, reporting to London-based John Reid, WMI vice chairman Music, content and marketing.

"By unifying the leadership of the region, we aim to maximise existing and emerging revenue streams as well more fully integrate our approaches to the marketing of our acts along with the important discovery of talent in the region," commented Reid in a statement. "Bernd's passion for music, his visionary leadership and commitment to innovation all mean he is well placed to propel our ongoing transformation."
