EMI label Parlophone has struck a deal with indie label Echo to license works from Mercury Music Prize nominated-artist Bat For Lashes.

EMI and Capitol labels will carry Bat For Lashes' forthcoming releases internationally, while Caroline Records will issue the artist's critically-acclaimed debut "Fur and Gold" in the U.S. on July 31.

"We've had tremendous feedback from Europe, Australia and North America. She's an exciting artist," Miles Leonard, managing director of EMI's Parlophone Records label, tells Billboard.biz.

The Brighton, England-based quartet is led by multi instrumentalist/singer/songwriter Natasha Khan, whose exotic presence and rich sounds have drawn comparisons with Bjork.

Chrysalis Group's Pinnacle-distributed Echo label released "Fur and Gold" domestically Sept. 11, 2006.

The album was yesterday announced on the shortlist for the Mercury Music Prize, which spotlights the best British and Irish albums released in the previous year. The winner will be announced at a ceremony Sept. 4.
