Celine Dion is to play her first-ever shows in South Africa as the curtain raisers to her 2008 world tour.

Sponsored by local retailer Mr Price Group and three of the country's regional radio stations (94.7 Highveld Stereo, KFM 94.5, East Coast Radio and Algoa FM), Dion's visit kicks off Feb. 14 with a corporate gala banquet at the Coca-Cola Dome in Johannesburg.

This will be followed by two shows in the country's capital city, Pretoria, on Feb. 16-17 at the Loftus Versveld Sports Stadium.

Dion will then move to the ABSA Stadium in the eastern coastal city of Durban on Feb. 20, and at the EPRU Rugby Stadium in Port Elizabeth on Feb. 27.

In-between the stadium tours, Dion will perform at the Vergelegen Wine Estate on Feb. 23-24. The estate is situated in Somerset West, just outside Cape Town.

Dates in Belgium, France and Switzerland follow as part of a world tour that will see Dion play more than 100 shows. Dion's current five-year residency in Las Vegas ends on Dec. 15.
